South Sudan big man Bol Bol will miss the Paris Olympics due to a personal matter. Bol had been included in South Sudan’s preliminary roster, but will now miss the games. Bol re-signed with the Phoenix Suns this offseason. The 7-foot-3 forward/center had hoped to make his debut for South Sudan this summer. Bol missed last summer’s FIBA World Cup because he was focused on his NBA free agency. South Sudan is in Group C at the Olympics. That group includes the United States, Serbia and Puerto Rico.

Rugby union is getting smashed in junior participation by the NRL and AFL, so the battling footy code has recruited a rugby league superstar to turn the tables. According to recent Federal Government data, 173,000 kids aged 0-8 are playing Aussie Rules while 108,000 kids aged 9-14 are playing rugby league. A further 125,000 teens aged 15-17 are playing Aussie Rules and 84,000 are involved in rugby league.
