Yesterday we reported that Notre Dame’s men’s swimming program would be suspended for a minimum of one academic year after a gambling investigation. So what now? There’s still a lot of uncertainty, but I’m wondering what the athletes will do in response. I’m not sure how long the Notre Dame team has known about this, but the news is coming right before the start of the school year and I’m guessing many incoming athletes have already moved in and started training with the team (if the team is allowed to train at all). For those who are senior or 5th…

Crowds of people chanting, ‘Allez Juliette!’ reached a crescendo when Juliette Labous (Team dsm-firmenich PostNL) attacked at the bottom of Côte des Fins in pursuit of the day’s victory near the end of stage 6 at the Tour de France Femmes. The French Champion had little opportunity to take in her dedicated fanfare when she reached the final 15km, but she heard their cheers and saw glimpses of their faces as she raced into the base of the climb. Her former club team, Le Vélo Club Morteau Montbenoit (VCMM), positioned themselves on the final climb waving dedicated signs, her face on a…

By: Sean Crose There’s no doubt that the first bout between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk was the hardest fight of each man’s life. While Usyk walked out of the ring that Saudi Arabian night back in May as the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world (the first in ages)after besting Fury, he had to earn that title the hard way. As for Fury, the towering Englishman may not have agreed with the judge’s decision that evening (What losing fighter does after suffering his first loss?) there was no argument that, even if he had walked out of the ring…

PERTH, Australia – Israel Adesanya couldn’t contain his emotions while firing back at Dricus Du Plessis. A big talking point in Adesanya’s (24-3 MMA, 13-3 UFC) title fight against middleweight champion Du Plessis (21-2 MMA, 7-0 UFC) in Saturday’s UFC 305 main event (ESPN+ pay-per-view, ESPN, ESPN+) at RAC Arena is Du Plessis’ comments about being the first real African champion. Adesanya has debunked that claim on numerous occasions, but one specific comment from Du Plessis during Friday’s press conference seemed to particularly get under his skin. “On Tuesday, I’m going back to Nigeria,” Adesanya said. “I think Friday I’m…
