Portland is expected to announce a WNBA expansion team featuring an ownership group lead by the Bhathal family, sources told Sean Highkin of The Rose Garden Report. The team is set to begin play in 2026, with an announce coming on September 10. The team’s name and logo will be announced at a later date. The Bhathal family currently own the NWSL’s Portland Thorns. With their knowledge of the Portland market, the ownership group began exploring adding an WNBA team several months ago.
