Fall Workouts Kendall Rogers – December 23, 2024 Motivation won’t be an issue for TCU entering the 2025 campaign. The Horned Frogs finished the 2024 campaign with a respectable 33-21 overall record and looked primed to make yet another NCAA postseason appearance. However, the selection committee didn’t view TCU’s case that way and left them out of the field of 64 on Selection Monday.Leaving TCU out of the field wasn’t the snub of all snubs, but it was mildly surprising given the overall record, respectable Big 12 league record, and an RPI of 42.The bad news is the Frogs missed the…
If this year were an imaginary World Cup, Australia would have qualified for rugby’s quarterfinals. Top eight again, and a difficult matchup for England or even Ireland, if the pools sorted it that way.Pushed from the ‘quarters’ picture were Wales and Fiji, the Wallabies’ pool mates last year. Fiji is fallow but Wales is in their deepest slump in a storied history; assisted by three losses to Australia. All elite sport is animated – more than the casual fan cares to admit – by revenge motifs, or put a bit more palatably, turning things around. Everything now only makes sense by…

Two-time Grand Slam doubles champion Max Purcell has been provisionally suspended after admitting a breach of anti-doping rules. The 26-year-old Australian has taken a voluntary suspension after admitting breaking World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) rules relating to the “use of a prohibited method”.Purcell, whose major titles came at Wimbledon in 2022 and this year’s US Open, said he had “unknowingly received” an intravenous infusion of vitamins which was above the 100ml limit allowed by Wada.Purcell said he alerted the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) – the independent body which enforces Wada rules – after the issue came to light when he received…
Tiger Woods’ son Charlie made his first ever hole-in-one in the final round of the PNC Championship, but missed out on the title in a play-off. Bernhard Langer holed an eagle putt on the first extra hole to successfully defend the title with his son Jason after the two teams had finished tied on 28 under par. Charlie’s ace had come on the fourth hole at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando. “It was awesome, I didn’t think it went in,” Charlie told the Golf Channel after holing out with a seven iron from 175 yards. Speaking after the round,…
Victor Wembanyama has never wanted to put limitations on how he can play and the San Antonio Spurs are abiding by his vision in Year 2 of his NBA career. “That everyday fight you talk about is something I’ve been through, of course, growing up a lot,” Wembanyama said. “But now, I’m experiencing levels of freedom that I’ve never really had the chance before to have. And for me, it’s also the clearest path into how to get better and how to get to the top level. “So, it makes sense that we see creativity on the court because I…
It’s been more than a decade since Robert Whittaker dipped down to 170 pounds, and best believe he doesn’t have designs on heading back there again. Whittaker won “The Smashes” season (UK vs. Australia) of “The Ultimate Fighter” in 2012 at 170 pounds and stayed there through his first five fights in the UFC for a ho-hum 3-2 record. But the Aussie turned up the heat when he moved to 185 pounds in 2014. After six straight wins at middleweight, he beat Yoel Romero to win the interim middleweight title, then beat him again in a rematch. Whittaker lost the title…
From the Start, the 2024 Swimming Campaign Was Defined by Speed … and a Fresh Approach to the Sport As the calendar flipped to 2024, maybe we should have known. The signs – after all – were there. For starters, we entered an Olympic year, which history suggests is almost always faster than a typical campaign. And when Kate Douglass ripped an American record in the 200-meter breaststroke during a January Pro Series meet, the first domino tipped over. If nothing else, the past 12 months have offered the realization that the lid has been removed from the speed box.…
