Caddington Golf Club in Bedfordshire is to close next week after it was sold to a private developer. The final rounds at the Luton-based club are to be played on October 11, after which all club operations will shut down. Members were informed of the sale in a letter sent out by club owners McGee Construction on September 13, which set out the timetable for closure following the club’s purchase by a company called Storm Golf. NBA Hall of Famer Dikembe Mutombo, the 7-foot-2, finger-wagging center who was nicknamed “Mount Mutombo” for his defensive prowess, has died of brain cancer at the age of 58, the league announced Monday.
