Caddington Golf Club in Bedfordshire is to close next week after it was sold to a private developer. The final rounds at the Luton-based club are to be played on October 11, after which all club operations will shut down. Members were informed of the sale in a letter sent out by club owners McGee Construction on September 13, which set out the timetable for closure following the club’s purchase by a company called Storm Golf. NBA Hall of Famer Dikembe Mutombo, the 7-foot-2, finger-wagging center who was nicknamed “Mount Mutombo” for his defensive prowess, has died of brain cancer at the age of 58, the league announced Monday. Mutombo’s family revealed two years ago that he was undergoing treatment in Atlanta, Georgia, for a brain tumor.
