On December 24th, Swimming Australia announced that Michael Sage would be taking over as head coach of the University of the Sunshine Coast for the next 12 months. This comes after previous head coach Michael Palfrey was fired from his position after comments made at the Paris Olympics supporting a Korean Swimmer over an Australian. Sage had been working as the assistant coach under Palfrey, and has presumably remained in that position since Palfrey was let go in September.
