Picture the scene in the Marler household on Boxing Day evening. The presents have been opened. I’ve constructed the gymnastics…

By: Sean Crose Some shots are impressive. Others are downright frightening. The thunderbolt Anthony Joshua landed on Francis Ngannou’s temple last March was downright frightening. While it was true that Ngannou had successfully knocked heavyweight honcho Tyson Fury down on the mat in his professional debut, he would have no such moments to call his own when he squared off against Joshua several months later. This final* post is appropriately dedicated to, uh, for shorthand let’s call it Belgium and the Classics. Shorthand because if naturally includes France and the Netherlands to a significant degree, not to mention riders from around the globe. And cyclocross as another necessary tangent. You get the picture. The purpose of this post is just to play a few of the hits, nothing more. [* Nothing is ever final!]…

That’s what we know for sure as of this writing: the man said so himself. Manfred took over for Bud Selig in January of 2015, winning the commissioner’s seat and the approval of MLB’s owners over Boston’s Tom Werner. He was Selig’s handpicked choice as a successor, thanks to decades of the two working together in a variety of roles, but the votes had to be there for that to happen. They eventually were, and he’s now beginning…
