There is a lot of interest in Jamal Musiala from all top European clubs, according to Fabrizio Romano, while Bayern Munich have also been making it one of their main missions to tie him down to a new contract amid transfer rumours linking him with Manchester City.
Speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside for the latest edition of his Daily Briefing column, Romano provided an update on Musiala’s situation as it seems Bayern have been trying hard for some time now to get the Germany international to commit his future, without any success so far.
Musiala has shone for Bayern and for the German national team in recent times, showing himself to be one of the most exciting young talents in European football, and it would be a real boost for the Premier League to see a star name like him coming to English football for his peak years.
Musiala was recently linked as a target for Man City by Team Talk as they reported on the club’s list of potential targets to replace Kevin De Bruyne, so this could be one to keep an eye on if the 21-year-old doesn’t end up putting pen to paper on a new deal at the Allianz Arena.
Musiala transfer: Fabrizio Romano’s update on the Bayern star
“Bayern have been pushing for months to extend Musiala’s contract and this remain one of their main missions. Bayern will insist again with a big proposal; he’s in the list of all the top European clubs, this is very normal, but it all depends on what happens with Bayern in talks,” Romano said.
City surely won’t be alone in targeting Musiala, but he certainly makes sense as someone to go for if De Bruyne ends up leaving the Etihad Stadium.
The Belgian playmaker has just a year left on his current contract and has spoken publicly about how hard it might be to turn down life-changing money from Saudi Arabia.
