Anthony Martial is still without a club after leaving Manchester United at the end of last season as a free agent.
The beginning of the summer saw the French forward finally draw a line under his time at Old Trafford.
Ending nine years at Old Trafford, Martial, 28, is now a free agent and able to pick his next club.
And according to a recent report from French outlet RMC Sport, the 28-year-old is being courted by Ligue 1 side Lille.
Lille working on deal to sign Anthony Martial
The French team’s own transfer business saw them lose several key players this summer, including centre-back Leny Yoro, who traded places with Martial at Manchester United after the two clubs agreed a £58.9 million deal.
Now set to reinvest some of those funds, Lille, led by manager Bruno Genesio, are keen to recruit Martial.
Despite the former Monaco starlet being a free agent, the proposed deal will still cost Lille a reasonable amount. According to Spotrac, Martial’s last contract at United saw him earn £10 million a year, and while the forward may not end up being offered that much again, he will still expect to be among Ligue 1’s highest earners.
During his near decade long spell with United, Martial, who has represented France on 30 occasions, scored 90 goals and registered 47 assists in 317 games in all competitions.
