After crashing back to earth in Brisbane, the Wallabies were reminded again how high a hill they have to climb, being dealt a 30-12 loss against the Springboks on a rainy night in Perth.
While improvements were seen across the park, ratings were still grim – and that dichotomy has been reflected in the votes cast by The Roar‘s audience this week.
Surprisingly, 7.5 players (we’ll get to the technicality in a second), managed a most common rating of 5 or higher. However, the results overall saw fourteen players chalking up a failing grade – with the bench copping the brunt of it.
Bottom of the list was veteran James Slipper with a score of 3.67 – although his forced injury early in the second half played a major factor. Not far behind him however was Ben Donaldson, whose actions in the final ten minutes saw him finish with an ugly average of 3.74.
These two were not alone, however, with Seru Uru also joining them in the under 4 average category thanks to his yellow card, while eleven Wallabies didn’t fare match better with an average of just over 4.
Of note though was Noah Lolesio, who split his most common rating vote – the exact same number of fans chose to give Noah either a 5 or a 6, both equalling 19.6% of his total vote, further highlighting how split The Roar audience is on the Brumbies’ flyhalf in gold – although it was not enough to earn him a passing grade.
Despite the improved number of players earning a higher common rating, only nine players earned a passing grade for their performance. At the top was Angus Bell, his 6.11 average grade comfortably the pick of the bunch, with Marika Koroibete serving as runner-up.
