After Paddy Pimblett’s reaction to Dustin Poirier wanting to retire — and subsequently saying he’d defeat the former interim lightweight champion in a fight — fans are siding with “The Diamond.”
Ahead of Pimblett’s massive co-main event fight with Michael Chandler at UFC 314 on April 12 in Miami, “The Baddy” spoke with UFC broadcast partner ESPN and was asked about Poirier preparing for one last fight. Pimblett said Poirier “must be an idiot,” although to be fair, Pimblett says it’s because the longtime veteran looked super competitive against lightweight champ Islam Makhachev in a fifth-rounnd submission loss at UFC 302 this past June.
On top of that, Pimblett ended his reaction by saying, “I think I beat Dustin Poirier, so I’d love to fight him.” That fight could make a lot of sense from a merit standpoint should Pimblett hand Chandler his third consecutive loss.
Judging by your reactions, you don’t seem to agree with Pimblett’s prediction for a potential fight with Poirier, or his reaction about the legendary lightweights plans to retire.
