In the shadows of Disney’s Magic Kingdom, there was something magical happening at UCF last season.
Rich Wallace, in his first season coaching his alma mater, brought in 20 transfers and eight freshmen – plus a new staff – and blended it all together as the Knights, based in Orlando, reached an NCAA regional for the first time since 2017.
At the Tallahassee Regional, the Knights, seeded third, knocked second-seeded Alabama, 8-7. UCF later eliminated Stetson, 5-2, before getting beat in the finals by host Florida State.
