Texas A&M Swims to Art Adamson Invite SweepThe Texas A&M men’s and women’s swim teams finished off a sweep of their annual Art Adamson Invitational on Friday.
The men scored 1,134 points to overtake Utah (878), TCU (832.5), Air Force (341) and Incarnate Word (326.5).
The Aggies won the women’s meet with 1,223.5 points, followed by TCU (780.5), Washington State (736), Utah (591) and Incarnate Word (127).
Chloe Stepanek won the 100 freestyle in 48.40 to lead a 1-2 finish with Kaitlyn Owens (49.39). Washington State’s Emma Wright took third (49.46).
The Aggie men went 1-2-3-4 in the 100 free to put a stamp on the meet.
Connor Foote won the race in 42.18, followed by Ben Scholl (43.06), Seth Reno (43.26) and Collin Fuchs (43.43).
Texas A&M went 1-2-3-4 in the men’s 100 breaststroke as well with Alex Sanchez finishing in 1:51.87, followed by Baylor Nelson (1:53.77), Vincent Ribeiro (1:55.17) and Travis Gulledge (1:55.17).
Olivia Theall won the 200 butterfly in 1:54.09. Washington State’s Dori Hathazi was second in 1:55.42 and A&M’s Katie Walker was third in 1:58.94.
Texas A&M’s Aviv Barzelay won the women’s 200 back to start the session with a 1:55.03, holding off TCU’s Kiaha McCool (1:57.56) and Utah’s Norah Hay (1:57.92).
The Aggie men went 1-2 in the 200 back to start the night. Tommy Shomper won the event in 1:41.75 and Tyler Hulet was second in 1:42.03. Utah’s Brandon Miller was third in 1:42.17.
Stepanek, Owens, Jordan Buechler and Ella McQuinn won the 400 free relay in 3:15.22 for Texas A&M.
In the men’s race, Foote, Scholl, Reno and Nelson won in 2:49.90.Washington State’s Emily Lundgren won the 200 breast with a 2:08.16, dominating the race by more than three seconds.
Utah’s Evan VanBrocklin won the 200 fly in 1:44.07.
