The New Orleans Pelicans will hire Joe Dumars to become their new president of basketball operations. Dumars will replace David Griffin, who was in the job since 2019. Dumars previously ran the Detroit Pistons from 2000 until 2014.
Dumars served as the chief strategy office of the Sacramento Kings from 2019-22 and has been the NBA league office’s executive vice president of basketball operations since 2022.
Dumars is expected to soon immerse himself with the current basketball staff, led by well-regarded general manager Bryson Graham, and head coach Willie Green. The Pelicans had a 21-61 record during the 24-25 season as they were beset by injuries.
