Welcome to the Super Rugby Pacific Casualty Ward, the hub of all injury updates and news for the 2025 season.
All sides have named their squads for this week on Wednesday, with squads also providing several surprise updates on injuries for players previously expected to miss the season.
All Blacks duo George Bell and Wallace Sititi were expected to miss the entire Super Rugby season, however updates from the Crusaders and Chiefs have indicated the duo could make a surprise return late in the season.
The news was also good for Moana Pasifika with seven players back, while the Highlanders also welcome back four stars – although their Australian tour has proven costly.

However, the Brumbies have picked up a few key injuries, the most notable being handy flyhalf veteran Jack Debreczeni – with scrumhalf Klayton Thorn also out for at least three weeks. Fijian Drua
The Drua picked up two more injuries following their loss to the Crusaders in Suva, with lock Kitione Salawa and international scrum-half Frank Lomani both sidelined with thigh and shoulder issues, respectively.
It is a particularly disappointing result for Lomani, who has been battling for consistent time on the field all year and has served as a valuable captaincy option with Mel Derenalagi also out.

It is frustrating that the side has also picked up more injuries despite their good form, with Tito Tuipulotu (the brother of All Black Patrick), headlining an additional four players out for the Pacific side.

The Chiefs will welcome back Fiti Sa from a shoulder injury, though he has not been named in the side that will travel across the ditch to face the Waratahs.
The other big news is that Wallace Sititi, having previously been expected to sit out the season with a knee injury, is reportedly now a chance of making a return to the field closer to the end of the season – ideal timing for Clayton McMillan’s side.

Highlanders
The Highlanders have mixed news, with the good news being all four ongoing injured players – Oliver Haig, Jacob Ratumaitavuki-Kneepkens, Hugh Renton and Nikora Broughton – have all been released from the casualty ward and will come straight into the starting 23 against the Drua.
However, the side has picked up five injuries from their Australia tour, with Caleb Tangitau, Mitch Dunshea and TK Howden headlining, while Sean Withy is also set for a three-week stint following his red card against the Force.
The biggest loss however is Finn Hurley, who after a strong start to the year- including scoring the winning try against the Blues, will miss the remainder of Super Rugby Pacific with a quad injury.
