The Dallas Mavericks had interest in signing Ben Simmons from the buyout market, sources told Marc Stein of The Stein Line.
The Mavs, who are only $200,000 underneath the first luxury-tax apron, saw Simmons as a small ball center.
Simmons would go on to sign with the Clippers.
The Mavs are currently without Anthony Davis, Daniel Gafford, Dwight Powell, and Dereck Lively II.
