Harvard Takes Down Penn Plus Boston College Men
The Harvard men celebrated senior day Saturday morning at Blodgett Pool and earned a pair of dominant victories. The Crimson beat Penn 207-90 and earned a 230-68 win over Boston College, with Penn taking down BC 195-104. Later in the day, the Harvard women had a senior day of their own and beat Penn 194-106.
The Harvard men’s team of Anthony Rincon, Marre Gattnar, David Schmitt and David Greeley captured first in the 200 medley relay in 1:29.52, and Greeley returned shortly after to win the 200 freestyle in 1:39.37. Rincon topped the 100 backstroke (48.84), with Schmitt taking first in the 100 butterfly (48.48).
Shaine Washart was first in the 1000 free (9:28.41) and 500 free (4:34.76), and Adriano Arioti took first in the 200 fly (1:48.26) and 200 back (1:46.47). Sonny Wang was the winner of the 50 free (19.82) and 100 free (45.07). In diving, Adam Wesson finished first on 3-meter (403.40) and 1-meter (359.05), while Wang, Greeley, Oliver Pilkinton and Gattnar won the 200 free relay in 1:20.49.
Penn’s Matt Fallon dominated the breaststroke events, as expected, going 54.39 in the 100 and 1:58.88 in the 200, and Fallon added a win in the 400 IM (3:56.84).
In the ensuing women’s meet, the Crimson opened with a 1:41.84 win in the 200 medley relay, with Anya Mostek, Aleksandra Denisenko, Sydney Lu and Mandy Brenner competing. Mostek was the winner of the 100 back (53.72), and Denisenko topped the 100 breast (1:03.86). In diving, Ennika Carlson won 3-meter (340.13), and Nina Janmyr was first on 1-meter (297.68).
Alexandra Bastone finished first in the 1000 free (10:04.88) and 500 free (4:53.71), and Molly Hamlin won the 200 free (1:51.73) and 200 back (2:01.13). Stephanie Iannaccone was the winner of the 200 breast (2:17.03) and 200 IM (2:04.04), and the team of Lu, Brenner, Blythe Wieclawek and Kaylee McDonald won the 200 free relay in 1:34.89.
Penn’s Vanessa Chong came away first in the 200 fly (2:03.46), followed by teammate Kayla Fu winning the 50 free (23.43) and 100 free (50.99). Fu won again in the 100 fly (55.05).
