Anthony Davis told Shams Charania that the Lakers are “right there” but need to add a center before the trade deadline.
“I think we need another big. I feel like I’ve always been at my best when I’ve been the 4, having a big out there,” said Davis.
Davis and LeBron James are reportedly urging the front office to make a deal. The Lakers are said to be looking for a wing and a center.
Davis pointed out that the Lakers won a title in 2020 with him at power forward.
“We know it worked when we won a championship with JaVale [McGee] and Dwight [Howard] at the 5 and I’m at the 4,” said Davis.
Davis then added that he and James are “very, very motivated to win another championship.”
