The Los Angeles Lakers have acquired Dorian Finney-Smith and Shake Milton from the Brooklyn Nets for D’Angelo Russell, Maxwell Lewis and three second round picks. The Lakers are sending their second rounders in 2027, 2030 and 2031.
Finney-Smith has been on the trade block for several weeks as the Nets rebuild. Finney-Smith can become a free agent this offseason as he is in Year 3 of his four-year, $55.5 million extension signed with the Dallas Mavericks in 2022.
The Lakers move $3.5 million below the second apron and project to have more than $11 million in luxury tax savings.
The Nets were previously discussing acquiring a heavily protected first round pick from the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for Finney-Smith.
Russell, who previously played for the Nets after another trade from the Lakers, is on an expiring $18.7 million contract. Russell is averaging 12.4 points, 2.8 rebounds and 4.7 assists in 26.3 minutes per game this season.
