Rutgers got off to a good start to open the 2024 season, carrying a 18-7 overall record, fresh off a series win at home against UConn, as it entered conference play. There was continued reason for optimism in mid-April following another big series win at home against Nebraska, but after a few key injuries the wheels seemed to fall off as the Scarlet Knights went 2-13 against their final five Big Ten opponents (Iowa, Indiana, Maryland, Penn State and Ohio State) to finish 6-18 in conference play causing them to miss the Big Ten Tournament in Omaha.
