Junior Pan Pacs Finalist Clare Watson Verbals To Stanford For 2026
NEW COMMIT: Stanford University has kickstarted its Class of 2026 recruiting with a big verbal commitment from Clare Watson of Mercer Island, Washington.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am honored to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic careers at Stanford University! This has been a dream of mine since I was little and I am so excited to be part of this wonderful team. Representing Canada internationally, Watson placed fifth in the 100m fly, seventh in the 200m fly and eighth in the 400m IM this August at Junior Pan Pacs. Last September, she placed eighth in the 200m fly at World Junior Championships.
Watson trains year-round with Bellevue Club Swim Team. She finished eighth in the 200 fly and 13th in the 100 fly at Juniors West last December and was the Washington Senior champion in both the 200 fly and 400 IM.
Her best times include:
- 100 fly – 53.32
- 200 fly – 1:57.56
- 200 IM – 2:03.35
- 400 IM – 4:19.99
Currently a junior at Mercer Island High School, Watson won the 50 free and was the 100 fly runner-up at the Washington 3A State Championship as a freshman in Fall 2022.
Last year, Stanford finished third at the Pac-12 Championship and fifth at the NCAA Championship. The Cardinal now compete in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
