The NBA is expected to open an investigation whether the Philadelphia 76ers are violating the player participation policy with the absence of Joel Embiid. The Sixers have already ruled out Embiid for all three of their games this week with what they are terming left knee injury management.
The 76ers said Embiid is “responding well to his individualized plan” and will ramp up his return-to-play activities this week, including going through scrimmages.
Both Embiid and Paul George are expected to miss back-to-back games this season.
Embiid has lost 25 to 30 pounds, with the hope to lose more, and will continue to wear a brace on his left knee. Embiid played in only 39 games last season.
