Brewster was 12-14 on the evening of July 17 after a 7-0 win over Harwich, putting it in solid contention for making the postseason out of the East Division, but a late-season slide that saw the Whitecaps go winless in 12 of their final 13 games sent them spiraling down the standings toward a last-place finish and a 13-25-2 record.
There’s no way around the fact that pitching was the biggest issue for Brewster when it was all said and done, as the Whitecaps’ team ERA (5.88), opponent batting average (.272) and WHIP (1.56) were all last in the league.
